Rejected in less then a week??

Anyone else have this happen to them? I sent my secondary into a school and then bam about 9 days later I get a rejection later. Pretty discouraging.

I don't know your stats, but if there were low enough, they may not have met the school's minimum requirements for acceptance

I met the school's minimum requirements. They may not have been the best, but I just thought a rejection letter a week later was a little fast and out of the norm. Was there maybe a reason? Has this happen to anyone else and do they know why?

It can also depends if you are an out of state applicant. When I finally submit my online secondary for OSU and send my $75 application fee, I got an instant rejection the next day after they withdraw my money. The message that comes with the rejection basically says that they only have 26 seats for out-of-state resident, and they have sent all their interview invitation (This happened mid August, which was still pretty early).
I resent losing 75 bucks for an automatic rejection like that...

I honestly feel that schools doing this is criminal. They take your money and then run. This should be against the law.

case is well known for doing this. i think it all has to with meeting the minimum reqs. they probably have some sort of a cut off. for example, there is a canadian dental school that needs a minimum of 19 on the RC section of the dat. people with 24s and 25s on AA and TS are rejected straight away if they fail to meet that 19 mark.

but, the worst I've seen is with creighton. they took only 1 day to reject me😡

I talked to my adviser (a very up -front guy). He said that it is common practice for schools in high demand to lower their standards to attract more applicants. At UWF, the Nursing program lowered their minimums across the board (3.0--> 2.5) and received double the applicants. The following year steaks were served at banquets instead of chicken.

No, it has also happened to me. A school cashed my application fee and 4 days later I had a rejection letter. It stinks but its all part of the game. Don't give up!

It may be as simple as them not even opening an application unless the fee has been mailed. If you look at it that way, business is business. If someone is looking at it, that person should be paid, regardless of what happens to the file. However, I think it's only fair to do a very quick sweep to see if basic admission requirements are met, and if not; tell the applicant right away. Likely story...🙄
