So . . . after months and months of being under review at UOP, I got an official rejection letter 👎

I'm sorry to hear that. My file has been "under review" there since the end of July so I bet my matching rejection letter's right around the corner.

I feel ya, I'm in "Final Review" at this point. Which is UoP speak for, "It aint gonna happen".

I feel your pain...I kept checking my status and it was stuck in "under review" forever! I too recently got the official rejection letter, smashed my hopes to pieces 🙁

Wow I'd forgotten about UOP until I read this post...and I just checked my status for fun and it's the same as it was last august ("File is in Review, allow 4-8 weeks", I dunno how many "4-8" week periods I've been through since I last checked my status)
I didn't even think they'd bother mailing out rejection letters, but I guess apparently they still do mail out rejection letters.

UOP???? Oh yeah, now I remember... its that California school that never got back to me. Oh, wait, let me check here.............

OH, what a surprise, I'm still in review. "So you're sayin there's a chance."

Bump that!

I'm over UOP. They were so last summer.

Surprised no one else has 're-review at end of January.' Dental schools should just send out email rejections. Save the trees. This entire process of admissions sucks extreme elephant nads. 👎 👎

 ...so last summer indeed.

I had to find my AADSAS number just to look (used to have it memorized).
I'm in "final review", in other words "the next to be rejected list".

If UOP doesn't accept people with your amazing stats, then they're pretty stupid. I really don't know what they're looking for. I had a friend applying last year and even with a 3.7 and 24AA 22PAT he never heard back from them. go figure....

never heard back from UOP either. My file was in review for 2 months and then the AADSAS wbsite updated it to "Final Review" and it had been like that for over a month.

Looks like it's a very delayed rejection. OVER IT! Going to my #1 choice so I'm ok with it.

Good luck to the rest of you guys.

i wouldn't loose hope as many people send in their deposits for security blanket and later get accepted to a nearby public school and withdraw. I have a friend who got accepted in mid june last semester with avg. stats b/c he hung on there and hoped for the best as others with higher stats withdrew from the waiting list. Hope this helps to keep up the hope. Good luck to you all.

UOP Class of 2009

Just called them and withdrew before they had a chance to reject me! HA!

I don't think he cares about UoP since Howui3 is going to UCLA! I don't think you can slap the smile off his face with a wet noodle!!

Exactly, even though as UoP adm officer told me about 2 months ago that their class is full and any more interviews will be for an alternate spot, I don't think anyone posting here cares about a rejection from UoP

Hey John,
Yeah, I'm in the perpetual under-review category myself. Hopefully they'll at least get around to rejecting me before they start accepting applicants for the next round. It does make me wonder though at their admissions criteria... lots of top applicants aren't even getting interviews while some more middle of the road ppl are accepted right of the bat. Alas, my sense of self worth is now in limbo because of them. I will be eternally insecure.

why viciousseacow? you are going to ucsf! WAY better than uop?

btw, what's wrong with middle-of-the-road ppl?

I was saying it kind of tounge-in-cheek, but I guess it didin't come across too well via internet. I'll sleep okay at night. I am genuinely curious however as to their admissions criteria. I was actually talking to a UOP 3rd year yesterday who told me a large # of their spots go to alumni's kids and people recommended by well known alumni. Don't blast me UOP guys, just what I heard over a beer the other day.

I'm with you Viscious in that we both got the cold shoulder form UoP and both got into UCSF.

UCSF was my super top pick and better then UoP in every way (just my opinion, don't flame please) but it still kinda gets me that I didn't even get a call or interview or anything.

The thing about giving spots in the class for alumni and "favors" makes total sense and I can see UoP, as well as any private school, doing that quite often. Not sure if they do or not but it won't shock me if they do.

That's the truth. First of all, many spots go to their UOP undergrad "advantaged" (?) program. Some also go to people who were wait-listed in the previous app. cycle that didn't get in. Then, many go to people with connections. So you see, not that many spots left to begin with!!

Count me in your circle, PDizzle and Viciousseacow, as someone who was accepted to UCSF and got the total cold shoulder from Pacific. I am glad, however, that I was able to contribute $60 or whatever the application fee was to help better someone else's dental education there!

I know someone who's a first year at UOP. He was looking at the wall of alumni/donors and saw that many of the people on the wall had last names that were the same as people in his class.
