rejection letters, calling schools

Have UMDNJ and Pitt sent out rejection letters (w/o interviews) at all yet? I am being quietly hopeful that my "Received/Under Review" status for both of them means I may still get an interview, although I am primarily doubtful about it and am getting ready to start the process again regardless. But I was wondering if I should see a glimmer of hope at all. LOL.

Has anybody had success in calling and finding out if they are still under consideration, or does that just piss off the schools?

You can understand my fear of calling, right?

I called pitt on monday and the said that I had been invited for an interview. They still have 40 of their 80 seats left (by design) to give latter applicants an even playing field.... call them. It can't hurt your chances!

I have a Cumulative 3.55/Science 3.6, and my DATs were low: 17AA/17TS/19PAT.

I tried calling and got a voice mail which left an email address... but I think I will try calling back before sending an email because it seems more personal. I will say something along the lines of, "Hi, my name is blah blah, I've applied for fall admission and have not yet heard back. I would like to see if I am still under consideration and, if not, what can improve my chances for next year." Does that sound like a good course of action?

I got over being nervous and picked up the phone and was ready and then the voice mail made me nervous all over again. LOL. I'm great in person talking to people but suck at phones.
