I wanted to start this thread so people can vent about their crappy rejections. I just felt that it would create a potential venue for a support group to form. Everyone knows how it feels to get rejected, as it generates sentiments of inadequacy.

I'll go first...I just got my first rejection post secondary from the new school in Camden, Cooper Med School of Rowan U 🙁. I mean its a new school so theyre probably all about numbers, but they seemed to reject me as soon as I sent them all my letters... like the same day.

Furthermore, their rejection email was somewhat curt:
"As you know, the medical school applications process is highly competitive, and each medical school receives an extremely large number of applications. You will not be granted an interview with our Admissions Committee."

You can't take it personally. Some schools don't even look at your application, just screening for numbers especially Cooper which is trying to build a reputation. Keep your chin up, it's still early in the cycle and I'm sure you'll find a match for yourself.

umm....ok. no.

This post is actually for everyone who replied so far.

Im not whining. Like I said, this thread is for people who want to vent. I'm not really down about my rejection at all. i just thought it would be kinda awkward to create a thread for this purpose without sharing my own rejection story first.

Believe me...I already made peace with the fact that I will get many rejections long ago.

Did you really want to go to school in Camden? At least come across the bridge to a real city. 😛

hey i thought it was gonna be great clinical experience. i mean what else would you get from living in the most crime infested city of the US in 2008.

Screw Camden man why even build a med school in such a crime ridden disgusting ghetto. Id liken it to going to school in like Africa or something...

Ironically, the best place to learn about a variety of medical conditions, from infections to trauma, is probably a run-down ghetto area.........just sayin'

I had my own qualms about applying there, but my dad told me it would be a good idea in terms of residency because I would appear more "seasoned".

Well that choice has been taken away. Oh well. I wonder if the older, more established schools are much more curious about ECs than just grades alone.

This cycle, my friend got rejected from cooper pre-interview, THEN got an email inviting her to come to open house, then got ANOTHER rejection email a week later.

Double tap.

What... that just sucks

Not always. I'm rotating in West Philly right now and all it is happens to be either COPD exacerbation, CHF exacerbation, or potential ACS. I'm not rotating at the ivory tower, though. Rural PA has some great pathology and Hershey and Geisinger because of their medical prowess and no care for miles.
