Medical College of Georgia
(none others yet)
Maybe instead of making a new post, people who posted here can simply go back and edit their original post. This way we won't end-up with like 400+ responses like on the other "invite" thread.

jocwyo and hoyden, baylor is one of the programs I am interested in going to next year. If you dont mind, what kind of stats do you have. Thanks for the help. Congrats on your other interviews.

Well, I am an IMG, first of all. An old one 🙂 With lots af experience in anesthesiology/critical care and pediatric anesthesiology/pediatric critical care in home country. Average scores. Some research experience in home country.
So my creds in any dimension are not significant for you, since you are an AMG.

I don't mind at all.
Step 1 220, Step 2 225 (taken early), upper half of class, solid research w/ 2 publications, average LOR

Utah today....that sucks. I'll have to pack my bags and ski somewhere else 🙁
jocwyo-
I am upset after reading your post! I have a 219 Step 1, am in upper half of class, did research. Not taken step 2 yet. You seemed to be a good applicant, why were you rejected? Are you an american grad? What would you have done differently?

Wakeforest via snail mail today. No hard feelings though as I have no connection to that program or the Southern U.S. as a whole. Still sucks to get rejected though.
Maybe its your Avatar Zeffer, no one wants Darth Sidious as a resident! 😉
1st rejection.... but for transition year at Mayo Scottsdale. They can GFT. Wasn't that interested anyways.

I am from a DO school (AZCOM) - maybe that made a difference - although they have taken DO's in the past. I'm not sure why - the stars weren't aligned this time.
My letters of recommendation weren't swell (though none were negative) - all were from visiting anesthesiology electives.
I'm not sure what I would have done differently - perhaps rotated through Baylor as an elective.
Good luck - hope that your attempt is more successful.
mgh today... guess i was expecting that 👎

-B 🙁
Deans letter released... 4 to 1 in favor of rejections
My first one. Cornell 11/4
got my first anesthesia boot today from UCSD... regrettably; according to them.
FYI, U of Florida Gainesville, according to my source, had as of beginning of Nov, about 10 slots left for interview invites with 200+ applications to be reviewed, they gave out most of interviews early on, so THE EARLY BIRDS got the worm.
Axed by MGH today. Oh well.

kcgasser said:Did anyone notice that most of the programs rejecting people had to scramble to fill last year?
Really?! How interesting...
Can you, please, name them all?
I'm not being sarcastic, I have genuine interest.
some "notable" places that did not fill after the match last year
(per the homepage for scutwork.com).....
Rush
Wake Forest
SLU
Cornell
NYU-don't know much about this program
Vanderbilt
Washington
Penn State (Hershey)
By the way, there are many reasons why programs don't fill and sometimes they will choose to keep those positions empty as opposed to filling them with candidates that they deem less than deserving. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
