It is with great honor I open the official rejection thread for the class of 2008!

I have been surfing for 15 years. Do you surf? North Shore is a classic, Laird Hamilton and Occy, doesn't get any better.

Maybe, if I had spent a few more weekends in the library and not making surf trips to Cali we wouldn't be having this conversation on the "rejection" thread. Anyway, I'm hoping the interview trail leads me along the coast ...it's look good so far with stops at Florida and Galveston. Hopefully we cross paths and get a chance to paddle out. I'm always up for a surf anywhere anytime.

Amyl, I'm sure that you're already on top of this, but if at all possible try to get your school to speed things up. It may well have been coincidence, but I didn't get any offers until my transcript was in.

i figured no invites until transcripts were in...people say grades don't matter but i don't believe them so much. slu is only interviewing me without transcripts because i am rotating there and they asked for unofficial copies of my transcripts before my interview. i cannot freak at my school anymore....i know they are busy but i haven't gotten return phone calls even! one email i sent got the reply that they would be out as soon as possible and that was it. called my class prez who is actually useful and he is trying to help too. friday afternoon i emailed and called everyone i could think of and left messages... for 50k/year you would think they would figure this out ;-) i mean its not like it is a surprise that i am requesting them.
anyways, lushmd, thanks for making me feel better...i was hoping i wasn't getting interviews because of lack of 'scripts....seems from your experience that this is true. thanks again (putting away the valium.....) not sure if i am going to make it to march ;-)

I am in the same situation have not put transcript in but LOR and USMLE scores are in. I am contacting my deans office mon. As of yet I have one interview for transitional year.

So here is my theory: If you have crazy board scores, they don't wait for any of your paperwork, they just offer an interview. This can also apply if you have rotated through the program and they liked you. If like me, you did not have crazy board scores, they wait for some LOR's and stuff. I don't know how important a Dean's Letter is. Good luck.

I just heard on Friday that our program has already received over 700 applications for spots this year. This is up substantially even over last year. It's going to be a tight race to the finish line this year, boys and girls. Good luck everyone.

I'm pretty sure it works pretty similarly to how programs do interview invitations...some won't wait for a complete application, either to invite you for an interview or to reject you. Also, Deans letters don't go out until November 1st, so no residency programs of any type have received them, regardless of whether they have sent out acceptances, rejections, both, neither, or the lovely "we'll get back to you after November 1st" responses.

No problem...I think that if a program's going to reject you, they'll reject you at whatever point they feel like regardless of the status of your application. 😀

Personally, I wouldn't be too anxious right now to hear that I've gotten the proverbial middle finger from (name program here)...perhaps later on when I want to hear something from programs I've yet to hear from.
