hi everybody,

i have rejection from - UTMB, Galveston, TX
still no interviews.

continue the list..

see ya.

REJECTION LIST

UTMB, Galveston, TX
Univ of Miami--by snail mail

UTMB, Galveston
U Miami
Stanford
MD Anderson

don't feel bad, spacemonkey, i heard md anderson is only interviewing phd's.

Does anyone have a sense that all the programs send out rejection letters? Are they letters or emails? I know that UNC will send out rejections if people don't meet a certain threshold. Should I be glad that I don't have any rejections from programs, but not interviews, even though some are posting interviews at such institutions? I feel like prom waiting for someone to ask me.

That's absolutely true. I'm feeling the same way, Ursus Martimus. Let's hope for the best and be prepared for the worst ! 👍

Nearly all programs do let you know whether they will interview you or not...rarely in my experience will they leave you hanging, forcing you to contact them directly. Most of my rejections came via snail mail.

Obviously, there are 2 possible scenarios. They are still considering you or they haven't sent out the rejection letters yet. Either way (barring some mix up), it most likely means that you are probably not on their A-list. If they are still considering you and you haven't heard from them, you could be on their waiting list if someone they offer decides to decline. Very, very few people decline interviews nowadays...only people who are inundated with interviews that conflict with one another.

They emailed me. They will even pay for one night lodging, unbelievable generous in this day and age.

Hey Ursus, this is the REJECTIONS thread not the "Look how nice MCOW is" thread 🙂

Rejected by Chicago today

"My pain, it runs deep - Share it with me"

Actually, to be correct, Ursus received a rejection from MCOW but was refering to UWisc; in any case, I sympathize with your point that the rejection thread should be used primarily for sharing our pain. Sorry to hear about Chicago. Best of luck with other programs.

I considered not responding to the question some one asked me a couple of entries above. However, as there were several personal messages i got asking for details, i felt it appropriate to mention. It was in no way ment to make anyone feel bad and I apologize.

omilord. is their applicant pool that good or are they trying their damndest to not produce private practitioners? either way, dang...that's some insane criteria.

Yes, their applicant pool is that good, although saying they interview only phd's would be exaggerating. They do interview other (outstanding) applicants.

I agree- i think its HIGHLY unlikely they are "Only" interviewing MD/PhDs. Its one of those lovely little rumors of hysteria most likely. Of course they get the best applicants and folks with dual degrees are likely to have interesting applications.

I heard they only take phd's from one of the residents at my school. They may have just been bitter. I also heard that Mayo only takes phd's as well, but that's definitely not true because I JUST GOT INVITED!!!!!!!!! 😛

Seriously, can't we stay on topic on just this one thread? Here we are saying where we are getting rejected and people are posting to gloat about interviews, free hotel stays, etc. 😡 I don't mean to be anal but this is difficult enough as it is. Jeez.

If you have not received an interview invitation from Vanderbilt, then odds are that they have rejected you and not told you. I had to e-mail them to find out because I noticed that their only interview day from the other thread is TODAY!

make that three - this is getting depressing

I got the nicest email rejection for KP. This is a highly competitive field, blah-blah-blah, you are a highly competitive candidate, blah-blah-blah, we are only interviewing highly competitive candidates, blah-blah-blah, good luck, we are sure you'l match at your top choice program. Never did they mention that I am actually being rejected. How thoughtful!

Got rejection email from Duke today.
What does it mean if I did not receive rejection letter from a program already sent out invitations according to the other thread? Hope, no hope?

bql-

Do not abandon all hope yet. I have gotten a few interview offers from programs as much as three weeks after the initial offers went out. I would not cross a program off your list until you have actually recieved a rejection email/letter/etc.

I know that this forum is reserved for rejections only, and I hope this post does not offend. However, the question has been asked several times on this and other threads and I thought it deserved an answer.

i laughed when i read this because it reminds me of the rejection from Stoney Brook for medical school; it was the nicest rejection I could ever hope to receive; i actually felt bad for making them have to reject me.

has anyone received a rejection from harvard?

Is it reasonable to contact a program to inquire about your status, particularly if there have been rejections given and you have yet to receive one? Or should you just tough out this nail-bitting suspence? I tend to trust the system but had a friend get a rejection for intenal medcine at a harvard hospital only to have them send another letter admitting they made a mistake and they would like her to come and interview.

For the record the programs that I haven't heard even a peep about include:

Arizona
UCLA
Iowa
RUSH
Louisville
Hopkins
Maryland
Beaumont - as per program director, decisions in a few days
Einstein
Sloan Kettering
Rochester
Cincinatti
University of Washington

Check my math and may your day be free of rejections

I haven't heard from the above programs either (some of them not applied to). Also have not heard from:

Loma Linda
Georgetown
Columbia
Case Western
Allegheny
Eastern Virginia

Anyone else heard from any of these?

Sure, it wouldn't hurt, as long you're polite about it 🙂
