I know that UNC will send out rejections if people don't meet a certain threshold. Should I be glad that I don't have any rejections from programs, but not interviews, even though some are posting interviews at such institutions? I feel like prom waiting for someone to ask me.

Hey Ursus, this is the REJECTIONS thread not the "Look how nice MCOW is" thread 🙂Ursus Martimus said:They emailed me. They will even pay for one night lodging, unbelievable generous in this day and age.

CaptainJack02 said:omilord. is their applicant pool that good or are they trying their damndest to not produce private practitioners? either way, dang...that's some insane criteria.
I agree- i think its HIGHLY unlikely they are "Only" interviewing MD/PhDs. Its one of those lovely little rumors of hysteria most likely. Of course they get the best applicants and folks with dual degrees are likely to have interesting applications.Thaiger75 said:Yes, their applicant pool is that good, although saying they interview only phd's would be exaggerating. They do interview other (outstanding) applicants.
Seriously, can't we stay on topic on just this one thread? Here we are saying where we are getting rejected and people are posting to gloat about interviews, free hotel stays, etc. 😡 I don't mean to be anal but this is difficult enough as it is. Jeez.binka_777 said:I heard they only take phd's from one of the residents at my school. They may have just been bitter. I also heard that Mayo only takes phd's as well, but that's definitely not true because I JUST GOT INVITED!!!!!!!!! 😛

i laughed when i read this because it reminds me of the rejection from Stoney Brook for medical school; it was the nicest rejection I could ever hope to receive; i actually felt bad for making them have to reject me.binka_777 said:I got the nicest email rejection for KP. This is a highly competitive field, blah-blah-blah, you are a highly competitive candidate, blah-blah-blah, we are only interviewing highly competitive candidates, blah-blah-blah, good luck, we are sure you'l match at your top choice program. Never did they mention that I am actually being rejected. How thoughtful!
Ursus Martimus said:Is it reasonable to contact a program to inquire about your status, particularly if there have been rejections given and you have yet to receive one? Or should you just tough out this nail-bitting suspence? I tend to trust the system but had a friend get a rejection for intenal medcine at a harvard hospital only to have them send another letter admitting they made a mistake and they would like her to come and interview.
For the record the programs that I haven't heard even a peep about include:
Arizona
UCLA
Iowa
RUSH
Louisville
Hopkins
Maryland
Beaumont - as per program director, decisions in a few days
Einstein
Sloan Kettering
Rochester
Cincinatti
University of Washington
Check my math and may your day be free of rejections
