Rejections?
Started by jrpestana
tough luck buddy. 🙁
who would want anyone to know that they were rejected from a "caribbean" school.
since about 50% of U.S. med school applicants don't get the nod, it'd be easier to find out which of them were rejected.

if you go over to www.valuemd.com and search the forums sometimes individuals post their stats and also the fact that they got rejected. I can see individuals getting rejected from the top schools, just people might not like to admit it but i still think that there are more people applying that they have seats for especially SGU but look around and you shall seek
oh a few weeks ago there was a post in the AUC forum on valuemd who got rejected take a look and have some fun.

Instead of asking people here, I would go back to the school(s) that rejected you and ask for a specific reason why you were rejected (if we're indeed talking, in a round about sort of way, you or someone you know).
It's true that many of these schools admit a lot of people. And, it would kinda suck to get rejected from one of them. But, have some solace in knowing that a large percentage (far higher than U.S. MD or DO schools) of matriculants never make it through the program either. So, just because someone gets in doesn't mean they are going to stay in and be successful in the program.
I would warn against going to schools other than the ones you list in your OP, because I can tell you right now (going through interviews myself) that it does matter where you go to medical school, even the Caribbean ones. If you are already certain that you'd be happy as a Family Practice doctor or another less-competitive residency, it won't matter much. But, you need to come from a known school with a solid reputation and have strong board scores to get looks at competitive residency programs.
Don't give up. Find out what is lacking in your app, and then re-apply. At least at Ross, there are three classes that start per year. Often applying for a May-starting class gives you a much better chance of getting a spot. If the school really believes that you are too "risky" to take a chance on, try to find out why and then see if you can work on giving them to give you a shot.
