Rejections?

Bdaddyjolley, I've done my own survey and there seems to be a correlation between heel pain and the Redskins' margin of victory over the Dallas Cowboys. One patient said that their heel felt slightly better when the Redskins won by a single digit victory. Another patient said that their heel felt a lot better after the Redskins won by a double digit victory over Dallas. So, I wasn't surprised since talking to patients in the clinic and to the Redskins' coaching staff, that it seems a complete shut-out over the Dallas Cowboys would totally eliminate heel pain in patients. My point is that Joe Gibbs let us know that the bar is higher now and the rookies coming in this year and last have had better stats than in years pasts. However, the coaching staff will not publicly display all the stellar stats of the incoming rookies. But hey, why would good old Joe Gibbs and my team mates lie about their own stats?

Evidence-based medicine at it's finest.

lol

FYI:
DMU also uses a percentage system that can be converted to a GPA. So like it or hate it Temple is not the only school with that system.

bdaddyjolley,
Please remember that no one ever states that there are not solid students at Temple. I would encourage you to try to sight your sources b/c even a "polling of students" is heresay. That is a big problem with many pod schools is they are not open with there numbers and outcomes. I commend Scholl for being very open and even placing their outcomes online for the world to examine and as I have seen happen with the board scores, criticize. You must learn to be more open b/c you really have little experience in the world of podiatry and would hate to see you miss the opportunity to learn b/c you are being closed-minded.

For all,
We must remember that we while we are all proud of the school choices but I ask you to remember that these are your colleagues not your rivals. Do not be fooled into thinking that any school is perfect, they all have strengths and weakness. The key is to be smart enough to try to address your weaknesses. Also, try to be open to criticism. Remember if two people also agree on everything, one of them is unnecessary.

My favorite thread....

So far I've been rejected by 4/8 schools...bummer...expected...but still a bummer...

Just had a question for those who applied to azpod -- did everyone get a supplemental application request? The question isn't whether anyone received it - it's did everyone receive it?

Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking, which schools did you not get into?

WannaBeDPM

what kinda gpa and test scores do you have?

I PM'd the both-a-ya'z ....I would share here but, there are school admins that patrol these sites and frankly - I don't want anyone making any decisions based on some dumb sdn post!

But anymore questions -- PM me!

I don't know your situation but do you think a post-bac would help?

Absolutely yes -- I applied to Barry's masters and will soon apply to Rosalind Franklin's (Scholl) masters program ..as well as a few others...I think thats all I can do if I don't get in!

I got rejected from Temple and OCPM. I have an interview in two weeks at Scholl and I was accepted to NYCPM.
hey jay2cool4u,
Im in the process of my application for NYCPM, and currently debating whether to take DAT or MCAT. I know they accept both, but what do you think I should take DAT or MCAT. Help me please...email me at [email protected]

things are a bit skewed for me now, but i would say that an acceptable score on MCAT would be easier to attain than an acceptable score on DAT. anyone care to second that opinion?

In my experience the DAT is much, much easier.

one other factor that may help is the fact that you have to spend time "learning" how to model shapes and things in your mind...that was tricky for me. MCAT is nice because it doesn't require you to have that ability. something to think about.

No it's not because most schools especially NYCPM will completely ignore the PAT (shapes and visuals etc) section....so I think the DAT would be easier...all you have to learn is information --- with the MCAT you have to practice how to interpret the information as well as just knowing a lot...also you have the addition of Physics on the MCAT - the DAT has a math section but it only goes up to basic pre-calculus...

I say the DAT is easier!

not to be smart or anything, but why not just take the MCAT?? IF we as future podiatrists want to be considered on a level playing field with the do's and md's out there, its time we step up and take what students take to get into medical school. i know there has been some initiative by the schools to start takin MCAT only. I mean seriously, if you cant find a way to study enough for the mcat enough to get a semi-decent grade which the pod school allows, how do you think parity will ever be reached?

Take the MCAT. Many schools are no longer accepting DAT scores and you are limiting your choices if you take it.

Also, think of it in terms of your placement among other students. If the DAT really is easier, it will put you in the same ranking among students that take the DATs as you would be among students that take the MCAT if you were to take the MCAT.

if they are accepting both, i would take which ever you are most comfortable with.

why take a harder route to reach the same destination?

I agree to take the MCAT if you are applying to multiple schools because the DAT will put you at a disadvantage if multiple schools are involved....if you are only thinking NYCPM - they allow a pretty ridiculously low DAT score...I was there for the 6 week pre-matriculation program this past summer and I know what they were accepting as DAT scores (15, even 14 for some)...

If you are only applying to NYCPM, I see no reason as to why you wouldn't just take the DAT other than the supposed "nobility" you gain with taking the MCAT...

I have to take the MCAT because my GPA is MAJORLY low and they say the MCAT is the "great equalizer" ... but I doubt you're in my boat...it's a pretty small boat -- it's definitely a one man kayak...👍

Don't worry brah, you will be on a yacht someday

I got rejected from DMU after an interview.🙁 It took 2 months for them to tell me that.

Have you ever interviewed at an MD or DO program? Two months is nothing. Personally, I think that it is fantastic that they waited and made sure the are not just taking first come, first serve. You obviously were a good applicant and if you would have interviewed earlier may have gotten into the program.

No worries Pochan, did you apply anywhere else? if so what did other schools say?
