Has anyone received any rejections? I keep hearing about them being sent out. It'd be nice to know when confirmed rejections have been sent out for schools so people can know where they stand, etc.

Thanks!! Good luck to all. Look forward to seeing you on the trail.

so, what if I've yet to receive an invite or rejection from a certain place that has sent out both (SLUEI for example)? Am I just in some sort of weird limbo? haha

I'm not sure. Same for me and CPMC and MCG.Theyve both given out and rejected yet i haven't heard from them. Most likely, an unofficial waitlist. Anyone else know any info about this kind of situation?

thanks!

I'm sure it is an "unofficial waitlist" of some sort. I have not received any rejections yet but have not gotten interview invites from schools you guys previously mentioned such as CPMC.

Got rejection from WVU and Iowa today via email. Med C of Georgia sent rejection via snail mail a week ago. CPMC sent an email a week or so ago stating I was "unlikely" to receive an interview so that I may plan accordingly. Rejection sucks!

I have not received any rejections, nor have I received any acceptance.

Is it necessary for programs to send rejection emails? Or I should assume i have been rejected if i dont hear from them?

Some programs have stated "due to the volume of applicants.." etc etc they will not be able to send out rejections...Now, do I have a list of those? Nope.

Hope this helps some.

Ahh, add me to the list of WVU rejections... sigh

University of South Carolina, Columbia, email today....ahhh

Are you kidding??? Some places actually said they won't be able to send out rejections?? They can't find the time to at least email a rejection letter after people paid to apply to their program? Absurd.

The probably don't send out rejections so that they could invite you last second if other applicants back out of their interviews.

Case Western (email) and UC Davis today (snail mail). Also rejected from VCU, Kresge, Baylor, UMKC over the last week.

Does rejection just mean that you won't be ranked on their applicant list?

Does it mean anything if you haven't received rejections from places that do send them out? I know chances are slim if you don't have an actual invite but do programs run down a waitlist for interviews if there are cancellations, etc?

It means they not considering you for an interview and therefore your application process to their program is over.

Yes, It means you haven't been rejected.

Thank you for the valuable response. I'm sure you impress everyone around you with your edgy, I-don't-care comments.

Your words not mine.

It seems fairly obvious and/or intuitive that there is a group of applicants at each institution who did not initially receive an interview, but who may yet receive one in the event of cancellations. It's not like programs will invite 50 applicants, assume they will all show up a month from now and reject the other 450.

Yes, clearly there is more at work than a binary reject-accept. The issue is to what extent programs run down their wait list and whether it is a significant factor in the interview process. If a specific program rejects 90% and leaves 10% sitting on their waitlist that is valuable to know, in some sense. If a program rejects only a very small proportion of total applicants that is also a useful piece of information.

It's a pet peeve of mine when people criticize questions for being 'obvious'. We've been in medicine for almost four years....how many poor outcomes have you seen because someone jumped to conclusions on an 'easy call', or a 'slam dunk' diagnosis?

Just to mention: 2 places I've received interviews at I got invitations about 1-2 weeks behind other people on SDN. Dont get your hopes up too much, but don't become totally dejected either, if you don't hear back from a program you think you're reasonably competitive at...

If you want specifics about a program, and their invite/rejection/waitlist protocol, then ask specifically about the program. Your question was generalized in nature, and I gave you a generalized response. No need to get your panties up in a bunch and start citing tangential analogies.

Vanderbilt, MEEI, UC Davis, WashU, Wilmer-JHU, Colorado, Iowa. Also in CPMC limbo.

Jw, by "CPMC limbo" are you sarcastically referring to their apparently oddly worded rejection letters others are referring to? or were you actually rejected?

I never heard anything from them except when I called and was told my application was under review. Haven't called since.
