Yesterday (Fri, Nov. 26) I received a letter from UT Memphis after I finished its interview last week. I thought that’s it. Well, it just explains how they would make the selection. They would elect 20-30 out of the early pool for Dec. 1, but they won’t send out the rejections yet. The losers still have another chance to compete with the late pool on Jan. and March 2005. We could improve our chance with the grades of the just-done semester and retaking the DAT. I think only public schools which limit the applications to their state residents could play this game. They could avoid the unpredictable of the late pool. And the private schools just play the “waiting list”. I have another opportunity with Creighton (Dec. 1). I could use it as a “trade-in”!

Wow. My application is ready for review right after Dec. 1! I see it as an opportunity. If you apply early (Dec 1) then you face with a competitive pool. But, if you apply late then you won’t have many seats left. By Dec.1, there will be many excellent persons with multiple offers. We must response to these offers in a short period. I am praying that schools won’t grant the “waiting list” inflationarily.

UT has a little different approach than other schools it seems. I think only 35 people were accepted prior to Dec 1st last year and most got their letters in March or April.

Public dental schools have both high quality and low tuition so they usually are our first choice. Case (high quality) and Nova (nice beaches) are exceptional private schools. With Boston U.- how many among us would choose it. If we have good Stats, then we still have a lot of chances; even with the waiting-list, we could toss it up. Indiana U, which has high quota for non-resident, now accepts only the alternate list after March. Just take some times to monitor the SDN threads, such as Interviews, Rejection for 2005 list, 2005- What did you receive today? and Official 2005 Acceptance Thread, we could have some views of how the admission is going on at these dental schools. I currently apply for both dental and pharmacy schools and I see that this Dental Forum is so active and interesting to follow! 👍
