I’m a US grad applying to residency this cycle. I’ve gotten a lot of great interview invites, but I’m nervous about my Step2CK performance.

I took Step2CK on Oct 31, and I’m afraid I bombed it compared to my Step1 (250+). If I performed poorly, I am considering withholding my Step2CK score report, which comes out next Wednesday.

Here are things I’m confused about:

1.) I passed Step2 CS, and got my Passing report in September. Should I re-send my USMLE transcript before this upcoming Wednesday, so that programs will at least know I passed CS?

2.) If I opt to re-send my USMLE transcript, is the request instantaneous? For instance, if I re-transmit this coming Monday, will it occur immediately or take a couple days to process? If it’s the latter, I would be concerned that I would unintentionally send my Step2CK score report that will come out this Wednesday.

3.) If I do re-send my USMLE transcript, will it state that I sat for the Step2CK exam on Oct. 31, but that the score report is pending? Again, I would only want programs to know that I passed CS. I don’t want programs to know that I took Step2 CK already, as they may want to ask what my score is.

Thank you for all your insight. Hopefully I did decently on Step2CK, and all this anxiety wasn’t necessary…

Some things here...
1) You have a great Step 1 score which will open doors for you. A pass on CS won't move the needle at all (programs will honestly expect it).
2) Yes, once you send the transcript it's available instantly. It's been a while for me but I don't think you can withhold certain scores unless you release the report BEFORE it is back... but others can correct me here.
3) Not sure.

You can hold back that score (you already released your USMLE report... right??) but most programs will require your CK score prior to rank list time so you will need to tell them at some point.

As mentioned, you're likely to need to release it in any case. Chances are at least one of the programs will contact you at the end of the interview season and ask if/when you expect your CK score. You'll then have the choice of releasing it (to everyone), ignoring the email (and likely getting not ranked by that program, they will assume you failed), or lying (and then if you do match to that program, perhaps being subject to disciplinary action including possible waiver of your match).

If you wanted to release your CS without CK, you should have done that a week ago without worry. Now, it's impossible to know how "instantaneous" the release is.
