Yup, unless you apply DO it doesn't matter if your school replaces grades. AMCAS calculates all grades...if you repeat a course they essentially average the two.

You have a strong MCAT score, but due to your "lower" gpa and lack of extracurriculars and volunteering as you say I'd consider applying after your senior year. Is that when you were planning on applying?

My main concern at this point is that after I get done this thing from last Spring, I'll have 22 credits remaining in my degree (having completed 99). I'm planning on retaking the French (4 credits) and Biostatistics (4 credits) in the Spring, so I actually be taking 30 this year. I did the math out, and if I get straight As this entire year, including on the retaking of Biostats and French, erasing the D and C- (or C), I can bring up the GPA to a final college GPA of 3.74. If I take more credits, I can push it up to a 3.75 or 3.76 or so, but since there are diminishing returns as you get closer to the 4.0, I'll have to take more than a reasonable number of credits to do anything beyond that.

There is no erasing your D and C. They will be calculated into your AMCAS GPA regardless of whether or not you retake the courses. A retake would not replace the original grade. I would imagine this would significantly lower your GPA. Make sure you recalculate it to include the D and C- so that you know what you're working with.

Just so that you know, the application for DO schools WOULD allow you to retake a class and erase the old grade.
