releaser pheromones griiger reversible behavioral change in the recipient
and primer pheromones produce ong term behavioral and physiological alterations in recipient animals...

could anyone give me some good examples of each? I don't quite understand the differences b/w the two

Kaplan Blue Book gave a change in estrous cycles for some animal (?) as an example of primer pheromones.

It also mentioned the release of warning or toxic defense pheromones as examples of releaser pheromones.

If the change in the targeted animal is superficial, I tend to think the pheromone is a releaser. Otherwise, I think primer.
