I am a caribbean grad with a step I score of 88/216 and amongst the top of my class. I'm finishing my interviews and at this point all the programs have not received my step II score since i only took it in december. I recently received my step II score and it was a 283/75 (def not consistent with my grades/step I score/recs etc). Unfortunately, I ended up taking step II during a two month span in which I did two sub-I's and obviously didn't have enough time to consistently study and learn with the schedule, call, etc. At this point i'm not sure what i should do in regards to releasing my scores. I'm worried that some of the programs may not want me anymore based on that score and therefore wonder if i should try to hold off on releasing them. On the other hand, I wonder if schools may not rank me if they don't have that score. Any recommendations on what would be the best way for me to go about this. I obviously want to give myself the best chances but I would just hate for any program to not rank me high based solely on this score.

Thanks

I'm guessing that you meant 183/75. My suggestion is not to release the scores until you've matched. Once you already match, programs will only care that you passed step II.

yeah you're right 183/75. Should I anticipate that programs will start asking me for scores prior to establishing their rank order lists and if so any suggestions on how to best deal with that? If anybody has any other ideas, I would sincerely appreciate it as well. thanks

are you considered an american grad? for us, i know the advice would be to sit on that score until after the match . . . if programs don't require it and it makes you look worse why offer it? smart move not automatically releasing it. now you have the option of choosing what to do with it. even offering info that you "passed" step II may open you up to requests for a number. wouldn't recommend it unless necessary. best wishes

my two cents ... don't release it ... don't bring attention to it, unless you're asked.

shoot, I was trying to avoid the subject but just got an email asking about the step two CK score...any advice? Any way to avoid get ranked lwr on their list from this? I appreciate it.
