Honestly you shouldn’t even retake step 2. Having a failure will screen you out of almost everywhere. I’d apply with only your comlex and apply to historically DO programs

Do NOT report any steps even if you retake and do well. You'll be auto filtered out

Step 2 Failure means you already weeded yourself out of any surgical specialty.

The focus should go into matching primary care, pathology, or EM unless you have a level 2 >600 and apply to old AOA programs.

Unfortunately I agree and believe this is the situation you are in now. If you did well on comlex apply for surgery but if you didn’t do well then you should be looking into primary care. Either way step 2 is done and over with. Don’t retake it and definitely don’t report it
