Why don't you go PhD? How about MD/PhD? You are welcome to ask the posters in the Research Scientists forum where most of the MSTP's hang out.

I think your hours are also "adequate," but given your stats and your intended school list, be aware you may still be below par among applicants to those schools when it comes to clinical experience. You need a solid answer for why MD given your research accomplishments vs. MD/PhD if you are going forward with MD-only, even if you intend to do student research. Your purpose needs to be clear because your clinical hours feel light to me given your clinical hours.

Thank you that makes sense! Reason for MD only is because the research I want to get into in the future do not need a PhD & could require a MD. I don’t like how basic science research very rarely gets to the bed side, so I want to do more clinical research. MD/PhD could work but I think it’s unnecessary for me. I also want to provide care directly as I have worked with some patients who either ran out of treatment options or are betting everything on clinical trials and I have felt their desperation. I don’t know if this is a convincing why medicine / why not Md/phd answer. What do you think? Thank you!

You are probably a resident of the state you are currently in. Residency is not based upon owning property (renters do not own property) or the amount of taxes you pay. I suggest adding these schools to your application:

You don't need a PhD to do strictly basic science research or clinical transnational research. Many grants exist for both. I got a PhD working with an MD who ran a basic science lab and a clinical service (and a large team). It depends on what you do.
