The only "trick" is to remember that Type 1 is distal and Type 2 is proximal. If you understand what is occuring in the distal and proximal portions of the nephron you won't need any tricks. It will serve you better to have a strong understanding of renal physiology...at a minimum you could memorize the figures in First Aid or the diuretic chapter in Katzung's Pharmacology.
