After reading some threads about student loans, I haven't come across anyone talk about paying off private loans and this is making me feel really alone ....and scared. My federal loans are in the 300K and my private loans are around 130K. I plan on doing IBR but what I am most afraid of are the private loan payment. My spouse also has loans but had to leave med school due to a health issue which left him with high student debt and no future doctor salary. We are not sure what to do with regards to tax filing...separate or joint. Before any judgements are made about our debts, there were circumstances that forced us to take out these loans. Any advice would be appreciated.
