Okay, here's the situation. At my undergrad, I took Chem 11L, which was 4 credit hours. Six years later I retook it to get a better grade as well as to boost my confidence for the long list of prereqs that were soon to follow. This was at Loyola, and I took only the lecture for 3 credit hours. How do I figure out the average grade if the number of credit hours differ?

Chem 11L (undergrad) B-
Chem 111 (LUC) A

I know I would have to average it for MD schools, but for DO schools, I would somehow have to count the lab, right? I'm guessing they take the recent grade? I'm confused... 😕

I haven't found anything on this topic, but please excuse me if this is a repeat post...help please!

On AMCAS you just list each course separately, for the second time you took the course you can check the box for repeat course. Just put in the appropriate # of credits for each and AMCAS will average it out for you. On AMCAS, each class is factored in the same regardless of whether you repeated a class or not. With AACOMAS when you enter the first time you took the class, on the box labeled type you pick "Repeat 01" and for the second time you took it you pick "Last Repeat 01". AACOMAS will automatically determine your new gpa for you, it will only use the grade from the latest time you took it, so your lower score won't even be factored in. Thats why re-taking classes can make your gpa for DO schools improve really quickly.
