To those that have recently taken the Step 1, did you have any questions that repeated on different blocks. I spoke to someone who took the exam last year and he said that he had the same question on different blocks of his exam, and that this happened several times. If all this is true it means that the questions you get are picked by the computer randomly before the start of each block and not by some system at the beginging of your exam. I figure if they had any kind of "system" for picking questions it would at least not give you ones you already had. I guess this test is more like a lottery than I thought, the luck of the draw can make you or break you.

I've had repeats, but certainly not more than twice an exam. Also, the questions may seem exactly the same but they usually are not, with different choics and a slighly different focus on the question. They only test certain points

He's right. Sometimes questions will seem near identical, but they're not. Similarly, I saw a few questions on my exam that looked identical to ones I got on my NBME assessment exams... problem is, they were actually slightly different. yikes, be careful.

I didn't notice any repeats on the exam between blocks, with the NBME assessments or with QBank. Similar topics were tested (you'll likely get a question on the innervation of the hand and a question involving pheochromocytoma) but didn't notice any repeat questions...not that my memory for that sort of thing is very good.
