I'm a sophomore-and-a-half so to speak, and I'm in danger of receiving a B (3.0) in my microbio class or a B+ (3.33) if I'm very lucky. I've been considering retaking the lecture portion of the class in a future semester, but does anyone think that this is necessary? I currently have a 3.96 GPA and if I do get a B in this course and A's in my other courses for this semester, my overall GPA will be a 3.89 (my semester's GPA will be a 3.71). Does this warrent a repeat of the course?

I feel really stupid...it's pathetic that I can get an A in organic but can't even get an A- in dumb microbiology.

Someone shoot me. 🙁

I don't think you need to retake the class. Besides, med schools will still see your B or B+ even if you retake the class. You have great grades and shouldn't worry about what you got in micro. Instead, focus your worrying into the upcoming MCATs.

For the overly naive in the group: Troll alert! 😴

OMG 3.89!!!!! Dude, you better get back to studying and stop wasting time on SDN!!!! I wish the Troll would have been a bit more creative in his post

You are pathetic. Only an A in organic?!? Unless you go to one of those lame*ss schools that doesn't give out an A+, you should be ashamed of yourself. :scared:

Please accept reality and abandon all hope of a career in medicine.

I think you are completely fine. As you noted getting B in a stupid class is not fun, but it happens and medical scools know this. GPA is not the only thing that will go into the application: research, EC, volunteering etc. are also very important. Therefore, I suggest stop worrying about your GPA. As long as you are above 3.75 you are fine for even top 10 schools. GPA in your case will not hold you back from getting into any of those schools.
