I just graduated with Biology major with poor gpa. I am planning on repeating my pre-req courses (i mostly earned C's). But someone told me that I might be better off taking upper div courses. which should i do to raise my gpa?

Honestly bro.. you may be better off taking the courses over and applying DO.. If you already have a bio degree with lower marks, it would require WAAAAAYYY too much legwork to get your gpa from say 2.5 to even a 3.4 which, by many people, could be considered minimally competitive at MD schools.
Not to discourage you, but honestly please do not waste your time trying to go MD, you will only disappoint🙁 your self in the end.

How poor? If it's a 3.1-3.3 I would just take upper level science courses to prove to med-schools that you can handle them while slightly raising your gpa. However, if you did not comprehend the material of the pre-requisite classes you will probably not be able to handle the material of the upper-level classes.

If your GPA is under 3.0 go with the poster above me. Repeat those classes and apply to DO.

Agreed - be honest with yourself. Did you not understand the material while working your ass off, or did you not work your ass off?
