my personal experience - i had to repeat the year because of failing an exam in pediatrics and failing the remedial oral exam. The oral remedial exam was very difficult by virtue of being an oral.
the opportunity to take a remedial exam does not mean it is a fair opportunity and one should be ready to repeat the year anyway.
