Dear SDN,

It's with saddness I must inform you I will be stepping down from my moderatorship in pre-allopathic and pre-osteopathic. Before I can sever ties, I have to find a replacement moderator for both forums. It's been difficult to juggle time between the forums and my real life obligations. With the upcoming residency season, Step II of boards, and audition rotations I simply do not have time to fulfill my site commitments.

As this is a "red" moderator position, compensation is provided for support to the forums. This stipend is negotiable based on your amount of hours committed weekly. Responsibilities include: moderation of posts, disciplinary action on disruptive users, steering for site policies and other miscellaneous tasks as asked by your superior moderators. Although rare, a limit in the ability of the "green" moderator staff has allowed me to directly fill my position instead of bringing a person through the ranks. This is also necessitated by the time in which I must leave the site and focus on my professional issues.

Requirements: Previous message board moderation experience strongly encouraged (field doesn't matter), transitioning into M1 of medical school or already in medical school, nondisruptive post history without disciplinary record, at least able to commit 1 year of service to SDN.

If you are interested in this position please leave a reply in thread and I will contact you via PM. Please do not spam my PM inbox with inquiries. They will be ignored and result in a warning or infraction. This action will disqualify you from the job.

It has been my pleasure to serve you for the past several years.

Sincerely,
Bacchus

I want to thank Bacchus for his service and dedications.

Please note that this is a tenure-track moderator position, with possibility of future advancement.

I am please to announce that ShyRem have been selected to head the Moderator Selection Committee. This committee, made up of Shyrem, myself, a couple non-osteopathic non-allopathic moderators, along with a few public member advisors, will review each qualified applicants and their CV. Final recommendations will be made to the Board of Directors. There is no deadline for recommendation. Position will be open until the spot is filled.

POSITION: Full-time, nine-month annual renewable position in the Pre-Medical and Medical Division at the Student Doctor Network, LLC. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested parties should post their intention in this thread. Selected parties will be contacted by the selection committee for further review. A curriculum vitae, along with 2 academic faculty letters of recommendations, along with 2 personal references attesting moral character, will be required. Subsequent FBI background check will be done prior to final selection.

The Student Doctor Network, LLC is an equal opportunity educator and employer.

Bacchus, best of luck during Residency and Step II boards. Thank you for all of your service here at SDN.

I don't know if all this is necessary, consider me humbled. I was under the impression this was going to be a quick apprenticeship.

is this for real? i have moderated numerous forums and these requirements are intense. and this actually pays? I'm sorry but how is it that there have seen numerous threads starting as "please welcome our newest mod" but I have never seen a thread like this and it happens to come out on april fools? And would this be the first time someone jumped the "assistant mod?" and fringe benefits? no I am curious as to what they are. I had no idea.

You have no chance, pal. This position is mine.

My modship required a W2 the past few years. I received a travel stipend for several conferences I attended. I have about $100 of Starbucks cards lying around. As I said, I don't have a lot of time in the day and that's why I posted this so late at night. Of course, we don't tend to advertise the benefits or even put out moderator classifieds, but my leaving leaves one moderator in PO and that's obviously not enough.

I want one of those really expensive big leather chairs I can put behind my desk to sit in while I do my job moderating. Can we negotiate this?

Unfortunately it doesn't come with a pronunciation of "emeritus."

I won't be taken seriously unless my post count is upped.

Time to hit the Lounge's Post Pad!!

Also, please note. SDN moderators volunteer their time on top of their extremely busy schedules. There is no compensation, no fringe benefits.

now i gotta go change all my posts. i saw it coming. i guess i am just too quick to trust and susceptible to people who take advantage of said trust. I guess it is my fault for believing that people are generally good. I was wrong. Shame on me. Good april fools.

Feel bad!

It's weird, but what really made me fall for his story was when he said he had $100 worth of Starbucks cards. I don't know why.... hahaha.

Anyway, glad you're sticking around Bacchus. Next year, ya'll should close SDN for the day saying it's been shut down permanently. All the new premeds would die instantly.

It doesn't matter what you think, it matters what my patients think 😀.

I do not care for your mockery Bacchus! I have heard talk of weakness among the ranks of the moderators, even in joking. I will fight you in armed combat later this week. Once I sever your head from your body YOUR (mod) POWERS WILL BE MINE!

There can be only one!

On a somewhat serious note: I like to think that I am very well respected in these forums, but my inability to resist teasing other people will mean the only way I'd ever be allowed with a mile of modship is by actually decapitating a previous moderator.

Every April Fools the mods do something goofy... Like last year Q banned VC for something lame and then made him a mod... Hehehe... Never believe on 4/1!!

I've done it. I've killed Bacchus and his power is mine now!!!

LOL. Hmmmm the powers of the Bacchus might be a little harder than you think Espnana, might want to be ready for his force powers to come back in a fury. 😀

LOL very good joke. You sort of got me with the "$100 Starbucks gift cards" remark. Good one.
