Wondering how this will impact the number of potential physicians, doctors, mental health providers, lawyers, surgeons, nurses, and so forth with their proposed significant decrease in graduate and professional school loans.

The proposed termination of the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS program for new borrowers beginning July 1, 2026 is an existential threat to some academic programs. Some schools (chiro, vet, pharm, dent, DO, allopathic) will close. The order represents those with the higher number of closures.

Well said. It's quite concerning. As well as the proposed cap on how much graduate students and professional students can borrow I imagine will reduce the number of students attending medical school among other professional programs. Leading to both program closures and a further shortage of healthcare providers.

I mean sure college and graduate school should be much more affordable, but this is not the way to achieve it. It's about as smart as the DOGE "group";s approach to massive government agencies. Break first, ask questions later or never? Sheer cluelessness, maliciousness, and/or incompetence in the Trump Administration.
