Reputation of UAB

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
UAB gets a lot of respect from my chairperson (east coast IM program) as well (actually more then Baylor). My chairperson described it as an excellent place to train, with the only reason that more applicants aren't interested in it being it's location. Baylor has a mediocre reputation in IM, it's obviously much stronger in other fields. UTSW is the best in Texas, Baylor is better known in other fields.

If UAB was located in New York, Boston, LA, or Chicago, it would be a program that people beat each other up to go to. But it's in Birmingham, so the program always gets skipped over by the bluebloods of medicine. It's as good a place to train as anywhere you'll find in the country, and in internal medicine circles, it definitely carries that reputation.

Thanks, guys. Your comments helped me for doing my ROL.
