Reputation Points?

Up on the top banner under "Notices" it says:

NEW! After much member debate, the overwhelming response was to reinstate "SDN Karma Points" on the forums. This will replace post count. To avoid some of the negative issues with "Karma Points" they have been renamed "Reputation Points."

Is anyone else seeing this? It says "reinstate," but when did SDN have these? Does this mean it's permanent, or just adding supposed legitamacy to the April Fool's joke?

This is so weird. 😛

EDIT: I've seen other forums that look like SDN that have something similar to reputation, but that was all during Google searches for weird things like defining sabre vs. saber so I didn't stick around to see what was going on with it.

(Ah, to show my geek side, I feel like I should be grinding rep like in WoW!!)

SDN had karma back in the day, but it was removed, due to the popularity-contest-like nature of the beast.

And yet, here it is again...:laugh::laugh::laugh:

...was that from fencing.net? If so, my world and my husband's world collided in an extremely bizarre way.

Haha! Was that you? I saw Wildlifesaver went red so I changed him back to green. This is kind of fun. I have been randomly fonzitizing people on the forum :laugh:

WOW I get home from class and check SDN and suddenly I'm a Plebe with no posts!! It took me the LONGEST time to figure out what was going on, and I'm still not sure I know!! This whole thing is hilariously crazy, I feel like a newbie all over again :laugh:

Man, I'm gone for a few hours and come back totally confused about this reputation thing. So since everyone is a fonzie does that mean we're all cool?

Sorry Tsuky-I just reached the limit of how many rep points I can give 🙁. It says I can't give any more for the next 24 hrs. Now I am in the same boat as Myuu.

I created an army of fonzies!! :laugh:

ahahaha lame. They took the 2-7 thread and put it in the all students and then, well..no one post in it anymore. I liked it in pre-allo because there were always new people that could drop by. The 2013 thread did lose its purpose though. It become like another cooler thread.

I honestly don't remember -- it was several months ago. The little green boxes under the user handle are the only thing I remember. 🙁

pooch, I still can't figure out how to give my green to someone🙄🙂
 
How do you see how many rep points someone has? I can see people's rep levels, but not numbers of points.

DVMorBust, I gave your post negative feedback, but it will take a lot more than that to make someone who makes cookies into the devil! Unfortunately, SDMB does not have the devil smiley, so have some banana rage.:diebanana:

At the bottom of a person's profile next to their post their is a circle that indicates if the person is on or not and next to that there is a silver scale. You click on that. Hope that helps!

There's a little justice symbol at the bottom of the column with your username/avatar in it with each post (next to the online bulb) and you click that 🙂 It's kind of addicting, lol, I've been randomly doing it to people now!

Edit: ooops, a little slow I guess!

I don't think there is a way to see exactly how many points a person has...

...or at least not one that we've found.🙁

And I never said they weren't.....eeeeeeevil cookies.

Also, I can only see my own when I try to rep myself. Anyone else know how to see other peoples'?

Okay, this is from the pre-allo reputation thread but I figured I'd pass it along!

If you click on the quick links arrow near the top of SDN and then click on "user control panel" you come to a screen that lets you know your "latest reputation received" along with who gave it to you and for what thread you posted in.

To add to that, clicking on the thread link will bring you to the post in question. Once you're there, clicking on your post will show you how well-rated it is and any comments that were left on it.👍
