I notice on here the idea that getting a top grade is more important than a lower grade at a more reputable school. However, isn't there always the consideration of a school when looking over a person's record (a B at one school is equivalent to an A at the other). Unless an automated machine is just checking for a certain score without regard for a name, I don't understand the argument.

No - not at all

And a lot of the med/dent school screening process is done with GPAs and MCATs, and then an individualized look - so something along the lines of....
3.65 cGPA and 30+ MCAT - def review file
3.4-3.65 GPA and 29+ MCAT - maybe review file
etc etc

That's all done on excel.....

And there is never a 'B' at Harvard = an 'A' at Boston University analogy; as long as its a 4-yr, you are good

If you ever wondered who was up in the middle of the night analyzing medical school admissions, you just found him.

Or someone who is involved in the admissions process at his med school....

Jesus man you're scaring me, here.

You could probably give this person a run for their money:

I'm serious, set up consulting or something. She's small time compared to you.

Right, because spending a quarter million and a decade to train to be a physician means what you really want is to run a low margin business with customers who only need you because they're less likely to have good results. 👍

I think reputation is considered to an extent. A clear example: keep all other variables constant, would you take a 4.0 from georgetown's smp or a 4.0 from barry university smp? (i don't know anything about barry, just using them as an example of a probably unknown smp)

I was surpised to see that my lowly-ranked state's med school's list of undergraduate colleges represented was comprised of reputable/known universities. To say that, in the grand scheme of the process, that the undergraduate institution has no influence is probably not true. In my opinion.

Just when I thought you'd lighten up and enjoy some humor, I took you off my block list to read this post.

Then, when I read what you wrote, I realized that I was wrong.

Instead of putting you back onto the block list, though, I think that I'll just leave you be.

Right now, I kind of feel like the rabbit that gives the snake a ride across the stream, but oddly, I'm somewhat curious about you. I'm wondering how our odd online relationship will play out. It's a strange amusement, but it is amusing, none the less.
