I wonder why people with scores above 30+ are posting "if I should retake threads". I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on those people's minds? If people with scores of 30+think about retaking then what should those of us who got in 20's should think of? Just give up? I would like to convey my wholehearted congratulations to those of you who achieved 30+'s but please be considerate of other people who might have gotten lower scores. Sorry if I sound harsh but seeing those threads are killing me. I am already depressed about my score and thinking that people with 30+ are wondering if they should retake makes me even more depressed.

i am really really sorry that you didn't get the score you desired., i truly feel for you and I agree those threads are not considerate of how you are feeling. I'm not sure if the people posting these threads are just looking for validation, attention or if they really are concerned. I know i wouldn't choose to retake if i didn't have to. I bumped up my thread from a couple days ago to remind people to be cognisant of those who didn't do as well as they had hoped. hang in there.

Remember, everyone is different. They have different plans, hopes, dreams, dream schools, and even other known deficiencies that they have to make up for with good performance in known strong areas.

For instance, take me. I've got a 2.88 BPCM and a 3.28 overall GPA. I've graduated and a formal post-bacc isn't practical. So would my MCAT needs be the same as someone with a 3.75 across the board?

This forum is big enough for all of us, just don't read the posts you know will depress you.

Take me for instance... I got a 13 7 13. Anything with a 7 justifies asking the question 'should I retake' (which I have), especially if it comes on arguably the most important section on the test. Plus we're premeds, our primary speciality is insecurity.

I am not talking about people with low GPA's and who need high Mcat scores. I am talking about those who have above 3.5 gpa's and 30+ and are asking if they should retake the Mcat. Yes i know this is not the real world and people might be inflating their scores. But psychologically it hurts no matter what considering that it has just been 1 day since the scores are up. If these kind of posts are up next week then it would be fine.

If I offended anyone i am very sorry from the bottom of my heart.

P.S: Psycho thank you for your kind words. I guess i really need some kind words so that i can deal with this and gain my confidence back and get studying fast.

I really don't know what you got on your exam; it may not be as bad as you think. And don't forget adcoms look at the whole candidate and they don't just want someone witrh high scores. You may have phenomenal ECs and a great GPA. I know adcoms may not like tha ti have no research experience and that i got involved in pre-med pretty late in the game. But there's not much i can do about tha tnow. I need to accentuate my best qualities. And you should do the same.

I also know no matter what, it's hard to get thru if you didn't get what you wanted or felt you needed. I truly feel for you because i know how easily that could have been me, and i can imagine how i'd feel. Just remember you have some great qualities and you want to be a doctor. Just keep perservering and you'll get into med school somewhere. Try to smile..it goes a long way in making you feel better. And better yet, go visit someone in the hospital to help remind you why you want to be a doctor. it will make you feel better. And btw, you did not offend anyone. All the best.
