Hello folks;
I am a 4th yr medical student and I recently failed my CS exam. My school requires that I retake the CS before January in order to participate in the Match, since this is a requiremnt from my school. Does anyone out there have suggestions on how I can beat this deadline? I have tried to reschedule online but all to no avail. Officials from NBME in charge of scheduling say I need to basically be in front of the computer/internet at all times in order to get an earlier spot. I need your help and assistance on this matter.
Thank you all!

Have you tried calling the NBME and seeing if they can fit you in on any date, in any city, before January?

What's your current status? Did you already register for a later date in 2008? Did you already receive your scheduling permit?

Wow that's very soon...only 2 1/2 weeks left! 😱

Best of luck.

You have to get on the computer, be logged in to the scheduling site, and literally sit there hitting reload for hours. Best times are first thing in the morning, lunch hour, Mondays and Fridays, in my experience. It is very, very annoying and frustrating. I was able to reschedule CS doing this.

I recommend, before you do this, knowing EXACTLY which dates you could retake on, and in which cities. Once the spot shows up, you cannot hesitate; if you do, it's gone. If you are flexible with changing cities, you can do a lot better. Also, there are often spots available the next day or within 2 days, if you can do last-minute; these spots often are available online for longer (like hours instead of seconds).

Do not waste your time with the e-mail thing. By the time you get it, the spot is gone, even if you're sitting at the computer logged on to the site. Also, the spot that I finally got never showed up as an e-mail opening.

Hello all!👍
Thank you for the many responses to my tread yesterday. I finally got a spot for January yesterday at the Los Angeles testing center. I had wanted either the philadelphia or the Chicago center. Does anyone have any experience about the Los Angeles Center? Any sugestion will be highly appreciated.
Cheers!

I took Step 2 CS at the LA site (near the airport), but as it was the VERY FIRST DAY it was ever offered there, I'm sure things have changed since then.

Regardless, everything went smoothly.
