Hello, just wanted people's input on this:

I am a medical student at School A, and just got hired as a paid research assistant in School B. If a publication comes out of School B from one of the projects that I get involved in, would I list my affiliation as School A, or School B?
Thanks.

Doesn't matter unless the PI/attending you're working under cares. All my research is at other schools. For one of the things I got published, I was listed under my own medical school. For another, I was lumped in with everyone else under the same other school.

The technically correct answer is to list the single affiliation where/through which you did the work. So that would be the other medical school where you’re getting paid. That being said, nobody cares and people will list all of their affiliations all the time regardless of their association to the work

Doesn’t matter.
I’m on papers with med students and residents who have graduated and are at other institutions for residency/fellowship.
It’s up to you/them as to which institution is listed.

If possible, ask for dual affiliation:
1) You, your research project and PI are funded by school B, so by default you would have to affiliate on the pub.
2) You're a med student from school A, and your school won't like it (although they likely couldn't do much about it) if you don't put down their affiliation.
It's not uncommon at my school to have students to have dual affiliations within the same school on author's information. For example, Student Doctor Julie is affiliated with 1) School of Med at X University and 2) Department of Neuroscience at X University.
