Depends upon how much research experience that you have. No lab hands? No chance.
Then how people gain experience in the first place ? If you only allow people of experience to do research ?
One gains experience as an unpaid lab chimp.

I think you can get paid research if you are working in a basic science lab. Look for lab tech roles, the pay is low, but it is a good place to start. Otherwise you can work for unpaid, and that will expand your options. The best place to start would be to use google for institutions that are nearby and see if they have any student research grant programs that have open applications. Otherwise email around and see what you can find, or work any connections you have with any physicians state-side. Good luck!
This is an example of how either (or both) language or cultural differences can make a difference when hiring IMGs.
In fact, several of the OP's presumptions and comments in this thread seem to reflect miscommunication due to cultural or language barriers.
@Gadofosveset using "chimp" in this context is not necessarily an insult but more like saying being a grunt or similar i.e. you sometimes have to roll up your sleeves and work hard doing something you don't like and aren't reimbursed for in order to get to where you want to go in life. However, the OP took this as an insult, and insulted him back.
In other words, language and cultural barriers can lead to miscommunication. This particular instance is probably not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but in a clinical context (caring for a patient etc.) it could become a very big deal. Hence why many programs are often reluctant to take on IMGs if the IMG isn't familiar with American culture and/or doesn't have a decent grasp of the English language.
The chimp and pig comment was a clever use of word play.
IMG = US going to international school then coming back. FMG = foreigner coming to america.
What's more atrocious than cultural barriers is when a native speaker is less experienced with their own language.

Pedantic, but ok.
1) You're not comparing like to like. You're comparing like to unlike when you compare language to culture (rather than language to language or culture to culture).
2) Not sure if you're just speaking generally or if you have specific individuals in mind:
a) If you're speaking generally, then it's false to say "when a native speaker is less experienced with their own language" is "more atrocious" than "cultural barriers" in general. You can't generalize such a statement. It ultimately depends on the particular individuals you're comparing and the particular context in which they're in.
b) If you have specific individuals in mind, then which two individuals are you attempting to compare in your comparison? OP and myself? If you're attempting to compare us, then you don't give any reasons why you think I'm "less experienced with [my] own language". However, even if it's true I'm "less experienced with [my] own language," you don't give any reasons why this would be "more atrocious" than OP's "cultural barriers" which in fact I stated were probably not even a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I'll also note your quotation of me is different than my original comment.
Thanks OP. I hope what I said wasn't said in an overly critical manner or anything like that. I just wanted to constructively point out that it seems to me some (though not all) of the miscommunication in this thread was due to cultural and/or language differences.
In any case, I hope you can find a good research project (per the advice above) which will help get you where you want to go in life. 🙂
