Is the former generally considered to be a more desirable position than the latter? I am currently applying for full-time research positions for my two gap years.

From the job descriptions that I am seeing, it seems as though the latter is less involved in the research process and in more involved in data entry and scheduling in participants. Is this accurate, or am I making this up myself?

Would I be correct in my assessment that the research assistant position would be a better compliment to my medical school application? This seems like an obvious question, but I wanted to make sure before I dedicated my gap year to a position.

I couldn't find a thread on this, so your input would be appreciated. 😀

The job titles are idiosyncratic and job descriptions are more reliable in describing the role of the employee in the research process.

In a clinical setting, it would be unlikely that a research assistant or research program assistant to have any role in study design or data analysis. The tasks you've listed are typically what assistants are asked to do.

The best gauge is to interview for a position and ask lots of questions.
