I was recently accepted to LECOM-B and love the school but I also have a strong desire to perform research during my medical student years. There does not seem to be much going on in this department here, which is rather disappointing. Any opinions or experiences from current or previous students?

Welcome future classmate 😉 class of 2014.
I also want to do some research. LECOM-B has lab on their campus but from what I have heard on interview its very limited. However, I would be able to help you out doing some neuroscience research in Tampa (close to highway btw) if nothing else comes out, plenty of studies with possibility of publishing some papers. There is also possibility of doing research during summer.

Good luck. I see you in class.

I'm graduating from there this year, and I don't personally know anyone who did research there, but I've heard stories that a couple people did research and/or presentations. Fact is though in the DO world, research doesn't really matter for residency, and once you get into residency is where you can do some real, clinically applicable research. Med School is for learning, IMHO, not researching.

Also, PBL rocks.
