I have the chance to do some research at my school. However, I believe its more of helping a staff member research, i.e. being a lab assistant. How does this fair to adcoms? Is it better to do research than to be a lab assistant, or will gaining knowledge secondarily be good enough?

Also, i'm debating on whether to extend my research opportunities either towards the biology or to chemistry departments. Any thoughts? Would biology research be better, or does it matter?

I have a good relationship with my chem professor though, and I think she could write me an awesome LOR. Thanks.

I am a huan biology major and I discovered early on that looking through a microscope didn't interest me at all. So I went into psychology researech which I find much more fun because it deal more with people.

THanks for posting, I appreciate it, and will now also look into my psychology departments research opportunities. Any thoughts from others?

i've only done psych research and added it to my personal statement...I have two interviews next week so I'll prolly be discussing them there so i'll update you with how I feel they like it or not.

last year i participated in Clinical neuropsych research dealing with memory and stress and this year I'm doing female psychophysiology dealing with hysterectomies and sexual function. Even though it's in the psych department it is very much tied up to biology.
