Research at school vs research job at lab

Which looks more impressive for medical school: doing research in your school lab for course credit or working in a research lab?

I will be completing my own lab research for school and am considering finding a job at a research lab. Should I do this or take another graduate research course?

No one cares. It's about what you do and the results/experiences you obtain.
