Can someone clarify what are the differences between those 2 types of OT programs.

I know some school like Dominican University in Ca or Bay path in MA has research based program.

So If you got in research-based OT program, then will you have to learn about Research, assessments, interventions, during 3yrs, right ?

if you are really interested in research (as a possible career), you should really consider going for the doctorate

I had the same question and saw this description some where, but I don't recall where.
MOT= non-research based and practical (fieldwork.)
MSOT= research based and practical (fieldwork.)
Regardless of the type of program, everyone is eligible to take the NBCOT Certification Examination. The MSOT my be useful if you are looking to the doctor of OT in the future.

My understanding is that the research track is for those who want to eventually get a doctorate and become a professor/researcher. I think there is more emphasis on designing and conducting research projects. The non-research track is for those who want to practice as an OT directly out of school.

Thank you everyone, i dont like research very much, so i am afraid that i have to spend 3yrs doing it in a school that has research based program. I am more like hand-on person
