In an app would you say research goes under "Extracurricular activities" or "Volunteer and/or Health Care Experience" ?

Depends on the type of research. If it is bio bench research, I would prob say extracurricular. If it's health related research or clinical research you could say health care experience. Whatever you feel best describes what you're doing, pick that, nobody is going to challenge you.

Are you talking AMCAS? Firstly, the new application for the 2008 cycle doesn't come out for a few months so you can't fill it out yet.

In general, when I filled out mine, I had options like Research/Lab, Community Service/Volunteer-Medical/Clinical, Extracurricular. Thus, I would consider that to be Research/Lab.

If you put down what you think it is, nobody will notice. There is A LOT of info on your AMCAS app and the experience type is probably one of the least important fields IMHO.
