Hey guys, I know that you need 2 professors for your letter of recommendation for most schools, however I've come across an issue. In the past, I took research in the pysch department for a biology credit. From what I know, since I received a bio credit from them, I can use it as a LOR from a biology professor. The professor would love to give me the LOR, however, how would I distinguish it from being just another research letter? Thanks for the help.

I know of a couple instances where research course professors were not accepted as science professors for LOR. Some school(s) require “science professors” to have taught you in a lecture based setting/traditional course. For example, I took directed research for credit through the biology department, and my supervisor (who is a professor) would not have been accepted as a science professor for LOR. If you really want to use the letter as one from a science professor, you may want to email schools to ask if they will accept it. Or it’s possible they won’t look into it or notice. Either way, good luck!
