Hello!
I'm a Dutch medicine student and I'd like to do a research elective somewhere in England. It's an obligatory part of our 6th year and it has to last 20 weeks (or more). Is there anyone here who knows if this is possible? And if it is possible, where? And what's the best way to get in touch? My university has no connections in England, I hope there's someone out here who can help me a little but further! Thanks in advance!

20 weeks is a pretty long time and I'm not sure whether many places will let you stay that long as a visiting student. Having said that, where I did my neurology rotation (http://www.ion.ucl.ac.uk/), there were a number of elective students (mainly from Germany), some of whom were there for a very long time. If you're interested in neurology it might be worth contacting them and seeing whether they can offer you suitable.

Does Cambridge or Oxford allow for 8 week research electives for visiting students? If not, does anyone know any schools in England that do? (I am currently doing an MD/MSc in the US on cancer research and I was hoping to do a research elective during 4th year abroad). Thanks in advance.

I have to say I don't know for sure - the best thing to do would be to e-mail them directly to ask. If you can't find a specific electives e-mail then it might be worth looking at specific lab pages, finding one that interests you and then e-mailing the lab directly.
