So I think I’ve found a good thing to do for research experience just let me know if this will check the box(I want to go to a va state school).

Studying invertebrates for opioids, birth control pills, etc. She said at first you become voluntary but if I like it I can continue in the next semesters as a paid position. We’d badically go out in the field and collect samples and study them back at the lab. Approx 4-8 hours a week.9

Would this make the cut and how many hours should I aim for? I’m already set on clinical and no clinical volunteer hours.

Thank you, I know this question is a little bit ridiculous.

You should look for a lab that gives you presentation and publication opportunities.

You should ask your PI if there is an opportunity for deliverables while working at the lab.

One where I conduct research and present it to.. who? What kind of research would this be?

Usually universities have opportunities to present research. Otherwise you can go to a different university to present research, a regional conference, or if your research is good enough a national conference.

You present your research to your peers and typically professionals in the field.

Ok, how vital it is to have presentational research? Like I said I’m not really into research, but looking at the statistics it looks like it’s important to have for your application

I'm gonna say its not vital at all. Most research assistants and lower level lab personal do not have publications and the role you play in a lab is often very limited in terms of data analysis and interpretation.

I can guarantee that the average medical school matriculate has closer to 0 publications and presentations, there is probably a select few who went to research heavy institutes or include their research poster for some honors program or class they took in undergrad. Focus on how the research experience plays into leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and an interest in science.
