I am applying for the fall of 2004. Will not having any research experience have a negative impact on my otherwise strong application? I have done other medically related ec's such as volunteering and shadowing. Thank you guys.

Not having any research experience will not necessarily hurt you. I don't have any research experience and managed to get accepted. Just make sure that the schools that you apply to fit your profile. If you apply to schools that are not focused on research, you should be fine. I think that if you apply to research schools or apply MD/PhD, you will not fare as well as those with research experience.

Don't worry about it as long as the rest of you app is strong. Although I would suggest getting everything in as early as possible. Good luck.

Im my experience, medschools don't care all that much about research. I had about 3 years' worth, and only one interviewer asked about it. The adcoms seem to put much more stock in the ec/volunteering/shadowing
