Is research something an internship and residency program like to see on applications? Would this be something good for someone that has a low ranking at a vet school to have as potential booster?

Most rotating internships are clinical positions with minimal research expectations. And while residencies are also clinical positions, many residencies involve at least some research responsibilities, some more than others. So having research experience can be helpful, especially for a residency.
