hey all,
research continually pops up as a requirement for some of the more competitive residencies. it seems that research relevant to your chosen residency is the most valuable. however, i'm an M1, and, at this point, have interest in multiple fields, and certainly won't be able to narrow my interests before summer.
my question: how valuable is research if it doesn't directly correlate with the field your applying for a residency in? also, i worked as a research assistant for 3 years prior to starting med school, and have 4 second author pubs (neuroscience/psych/endocrinology topics). would my previous experience be as valuable as general research during the summer btwn M1 and M2?
thanks
