Which path gives you a better chance? And is there any difference between regular med schools and research-heavy med schools?

1. Graduate in 4 years and apply in the 3rd year.
2. Graduate in 3 years, apply in the 3rd year, and research full-time for 1 year at NIH.

Thanks.

p.s. I have plenty of research experience already.

#1 by far. Research is fine, but you might consider doing something else to make your app more well-rounded
