When looking to apply to research heavy schools, is it a red flag if research is not listed as one of the "most meaningful activities" and also if it is not listed in the personal statement?

My research experience was quite valuable to me and I learned a great deal, but it just wasn't as personally significant to my choice to pursue medicine as some of my other experiences. In addition, I swapped to medicine from another STEM field which pretty much requires a PhD for a career, so I've looked at research as a given in my future since before I was even in college. I'm wondering that if it isn't particularly emphasized in my application, am I torpedoing my chances at these schools?

EDIT: Some context: poster at national conference, 1st author paper in the works

I wouldn't think that would negatively affect you at all. Having your research profile not significant enough to be in the 3 activities just means you have many more competitive ECs to offer. The only bummer for you is that you only get 725 characters to summarize your research activity

Thanks for that insight!

Do any adcoms have any input? @Goro @LizzyM

No, and no.

If it didn't really influence your decision to pursue medicine then don't put it in. I put it in mine because I have a lot of research experience and it was part of my decision/future career goals, but if you put it in the PS just do help at higher tier schools it may not come off as genuine since you said yourself it didn't impact your decision to begin with
