research needed?

how much does research going to help you getting into dental school???
I have not done any reserach yet...
Also..
I have one more question..
I am gonna submit application next year 2008...
But I really want to study abroad... around.. 2009 Jan - May?
Do you think those times I should be in the states????
please let me know.. around when the interviews gonna be..
I am probably turn in application on time... Jun of 2008.

Hey there fellow anteater. Research is one part of your application, it helps to have it but it is not "required." However, if another applicant with similar stats has research, then that other applicant would probably be more competitive. I can't tell you how much research helped me, but at most of my interviews, the interviewers all asked me about my research experience among other extracurricular activities. GL this cycle.
 
Interview can occur anywhere between Sep - March the next year I believe, depending on when you submit your app.

As for research, I wouldn't sat it's a must but it certainly would help.
For example, if you have a lot of EC like club president, community service and volunteer then your lack of research pbb won't matter so much.

Or if you have a 3.9 GPA and 23+ on DAT, then you pbb won't need research as well.

Just my 2 cents.
