Hi everyone. Congrats to all those that matched. I unfortunately did not, but I look forward to trying again. Does anyone have information on how to get in touch with people who research in ophthalmology? I feel like this part of my application was extremely weak / non-existent.

Thanks,

OjO

Good question and I am SURE many many others on here are either in post-doc fellowships, have done one, or at least can offer advice.

Generally - look @ SF Match, or ARVO jobs. These are more basic science though. You can do clinical science also too, which some say is easier t publish in. I agree. THere's an excellent general thread (not on this forum) but on others like I think the general residency one, on how to land a research position. Search for that.

Ones I know of - I posted another thread for ocular path fellowships here. Drs Jakobiec MEEI and Mamalis Utah and Sander Dubovy Bascom in particular. Dr. Foster in Boston for uveitis. Schepens in Boston for basic science. Other than these 'formal ones' I'm sure if you go to your local academic eye doc and start of volunteering for research, they'll have projects to hand to you, and if you do a good job you could convert this into a paid position.

Many MD PhDs generally have basic science labs where they do research. Look at their websites, and write directly even if they don't post anything. I'd say a sig. proportion, at least 25% or maybe more, are never posted, but are filled instead by people writing directly.

That's a start. I'm sure others can chime in too. And search for that elegant thread on how to find research fellowships.....
